Chalet in Tignes
Les Brévières, the old-village side of Tignes
Tignes is made up of six villages. Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Lavachet were built with the resort, at around 2,100 m. Les Brévières, at 1,550 m, is the only one that existed before it: stone and timber houses, slate roofs, below the Chevril dam.
This is where the Black Diamond estate sits. You stay in a real Savoyard village among the larch trees, and walk to the Brévières lifts. They open onto the 300 km of the Espace Killy, all the way up to the Grande Motte glacier and across to Val d’Isère. At the end of the day, the Sache run brings you back down to the village.

Things to do in Tignes in winter
5 things not to miss in Tignes in winter
The ski season runs from late November to early May, one of the longest in the Alps thanks to the altitude. Here is what we recommend to our guests.
Ski the 300 km of the Espace Killy
Tignes and Val d'Isère form one of the largest ski areas in the world, between 1,550 and 3,456 m. Wide runs for families, moguls, couloirs and guided off-piste for experts.
Ski down the Sache
A legendary black run through a wild valley away from the lifts, finishing in the village of Les Brévières, a short walk from the Black Diamond estate. The perfect last run of the day.
Ride up to the Grande Motte glacier
The funicular leaves from Val Claret and climbs through the mountain to the glacier. At the top, the view opens onto the Vanoise and, on a clear day, as far as Mont Blanc.
Dive under the ice of Lake Tignes
One of the rarest experiences in the Alps: a guided dive beneath the layer of ice covering the lake, open to non-experienced divers.
Dog sledding, snowshoes and evenings in Val d'Isère
A sled ride at sunset, a snowshoe walk through the larches, then dinner in Val d'Isère. Our concierge books everything before you arrive.
Hike in the Vanoise and the Grande Sassière
France's first national park begins at the gates of Tignes. Mountain lakes, marmots, ibex and glaciers: from family walks to long treks, straight from the chalet.
Summer skiing on the Grande Motte glacier
Tignes is one of the few French resorts where you can ski in early summer. Glacier in the morning, lakeside in a T-shirt in the afternoon.
Enjoy Lake Tignes
Supervised swimming, paddleboarding, pedal boats, lakeside golf and the Le Lagon aquatic centre: the lake becomes the resort's beach as soon as the snow melts.
Ride the bike park and mountain bike trails
The lifts open to bikes: bike park descents, enduro trails and e-bike rides through the alpine pastures, for every level.
See the Chevril dam and its giant mural
Below Les Brévières, the dam wall carries a mural covering several thousand square metres, the Hercules. Behind it lies the old village of Tignes, drowned by the lake.

5 things not to miss in Tignes in summer
From June to September, Tignes changes completely: meadows in bloom, turquoise lakes, and lifts open to hikers and bikes. Our chalets are available in summer on the same terms as in winter.
The story of Tignes
A resort born beneath a lake
Tignes is the only major Alpine resort to have lost its original village. Its history explains what makes Les Brévières so special.
The drowned village
The filling of the Chevril dam submerges the old village of Tignes. Its inhabitants move higher up, and the modern resort is born on the shores of Lake Tignes. When the lake is drained, on rare occasions, the ruins reappear.
The Hercules on the dam
A giant mural is painted on the dam wall, facing the road: a Hercules covering several thousand square metres, now the emblem of the valley.
The Olympic Games
During the Albertville Games, Tignes hosts the moguls events. Together with Val d'Isère, it forms the Espace Killy, named after champion Jean-Claude Killy.
Les Brévières, the village from before
The only original hamlet spared by the water, Les Brévières has kept its stone and timber houses. This is where the Black Diamond estate stands.
Where to rent a chalet in Tignes
Which village to choose in Tignes?
The high-altitude villages are convenient for skiing, but apartment blocks dominate them. For a quiet luxury chalet surrounded by trees, Les Brévières remains the rarest choice: it is the only historic village in the resort, and it is linked to the ski area by its own lifts.
Getting to Tignes
Getting to the Black Diamond estate
In winter, TGV high-speed trains and night trains arrive in Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Our drivers can pick you up at the station or the airport and drop you off at your chalet.
